Our research aims to understand how the immune system fights fungal infections.
Why study fungal infections?
Around one million people die every year from invasive fungal infections. These are a group of rare infections that typically affect people with underlying health conditions. While there are some antifungal drugs available, rising rates of drug resistance and high costs associated with some of these drugs threaten their effectiveness. There are also no vaccines available for fungal infections.
